It's a giving time of year, but generosity does not have a time of year. And generosity involves both giving and receiving! In my cultural circumstances, receipt of generosity is unfortunately difficult. I have struggled with the issue often—and still do. This Christmas my family gave me a golf membership. The cost (and value) of this gesture was far beyond (multiples beyond!) expectations and the defined limits our family prescribed for our gift giving. It was (is) overwhelming. It is generous. I was speechless when they gave it to me—so I've decided to write about it instead.
One of the great attributes of God is generosity. I try to be generous, and I try to teach my children to be generous. I am so proud of them (even of myself) for what they are becoming. God is again being generous as I am blessed by a wonderful family.
